Doggie day for the park

LURGAN Park is hosting a fun and educational dog awareness day for all pooch owners and their canine companions on Saturday, October 9.

Organised by Craigavon Borough Council in partnership with Dogs Trust, the event aims to educate local people on their responsibilities as dog owners and provide an afternoon of fun for their furry friends.

Taking place from 2pm– 4pm, Lurgan Park staff and Rangers will be on hand throughout the afternoon to issue advice and guidance to local residents on how to handle their dog correctly, keep it under control in public places and the hazard of dog fouling.

Locals will also have the opportunity to enrol their pooch in a wide range of fun activities including a doggie dash race, temptation alley and an agility course.

A cutest dog competition with a number of prizes and goodie bags up for grabs will conclude the afternoon.

Leanne McShane, Lurgan Park Development Officer, said; “Lurgan Park is such a great spot for walking dogs and this event provides a wonderful opportunity to educate local dog owners on their key responsibilities. Come on down for an afternoon of fun and learning – you’d be barking to miss it!”
