The Trust is a non-profit organisation whose primary purpose is the advancement of animal welfare.

It was set up last year by Lurgan woman Alison Lennon, with Lynda and Malcolm Hill from Omagh and Magherafelt woman Olive Hughes.

Alison said: “We help animals by providing help and support to animal charities and independent animal rescues.

“Throughout the UK and around the world many animal charities and small independent rescues are making a huge difference to the lives of animals.

“However, the problems in animal welfare are huge. The people who are doing what they can are being constantly stretched. Additional pressures such as a severely injured or sick animal, or other emergency situations, can often be the straw that breaks the camel’s back. Obtaining additional funds to improve the facilities for the animals or pay for emergency veterinary treatments is often close to impossible. This is where the Animal Support Trust come in. We help by stepping in when it’s needed most.”
