Dolphin delight

WHITEHEAD residents are continuing to enjoy the spectacle of dolphins visiting local waters.

Early morning observers from seafront car parks were treated to a display by a visiting pod on Tuesday morning.

Among those taking in the spectacle was wildlife enthusiast and resident of the town Cameron Moore.

Cameron told the TIMES:"They came in fairly close and then went out a bit. They went to Cloughan Point jetty and then away by Blackhead Path.

"There were about 30 of them, they were feeding, especially around the jetty. They were jumping clean out of the water. They were here a couple of weeks ago and are being seen more regularly."

A renowned bird watcher too, Cameron explained that October has brought sighting of another valued species.

"Two egrets with colour-coded rings both from Wales. They were ringed as chicks and three months later they're in Larne Lough. They're still about the lough. There were 24 this October, that's been the biggest count ever in Larne Lough."
