Dominic Graham dancers wow 50,000 in Spain

A group of local dancers have performed in front of 50,000 people at a Celtic music festival in Spain.

Dominic Graham Dancers flew to Ortigueira last month to perform for the fourth time at ‘Festival de Ortigueira’.

All eyes were on the local dancers as they performed their specially produced show ‘Back to Bregan’ in front of an estimated 50,000 crowd.

The local troupe even shared the stage with the world famous Chieftains,

The show by the 36 strong dance troupe and six piece band was the highlight of the evening.

One Spanish newspaper described our local dancers as having ‘stole the show’.

Their performance, which last just over an hour culminated with an amazing routine called the ‘Thunderstorm Reel’ which brought the crowd to the end of the show and demanded three encores from the dancers and musicians.

Dance Director, Dominic Graham said he was delighted with how his troupe performed in Spain in front of a huge crowd, but added there was no rest for the dancers as they are already in rehearsal for their annual show at the Riverside Theatre.

The performance ‘DUO’ will run in the Riverside Theatre coleraine from 11th to 13th September at 8pm.

Many of the routines performed in Spain will be included in the show as well as the usual mix of tradition and true innovation that the local dancers are know for.
