Dominican student Chris has six appeal!

Chris is off to study Medicine at Trinity College, Cambridge having gained A* grades in Biology, Further Mathematics, Mathematics and Physics plus A grades in Chemistry and Spanish.

Dr Bob Cummings, Principal of Dominican College was delighted with Chris’s achievement.

It was the first time that anyone he knew of had achieved six high A level passes.

Bann Rowing Club star Chris found out about his success in Bulgaria where he is competing for Ireland in the World Junior Rowing Championships.

Dr Cummings said that the school was very pleased with the A and AS level results achieved by its students. In terms of added value it was possibly the best ever year for A level.

The upper sixth year had a lower academic profile, as measured by 11+ grades and yet 100% achieved 2 or more A level passes and 94% achieved three or more passes.

Apart from Chris Black, notable other achievements included Helen Schwittay and Stephen Ramsay who both achieved A*AAAs.

At AS level Timothy Little, Robert Palmer and Jack Pothecary all achieved 4 A grades whilst Tara Anderson, Matthew Caulfield and Josie Woods all achieved four A levels with at least 3 top grades.

Dr Cummings added that 100% of the AS year group had achieved 2 or more passes and that about 80% of the grades were A-C which provides a very good foundation for U6 work.
