Boots announced the competition as they prepare to take over the Action Cancer Store in Lurgan for a second year in a row.

On Thursday, September 17, the team at Boots will run the Action Cancer Store as part of the Business in the Community: Cares Shops’ Challenge. Throughout the day, there will be make overs, raffles, refreshments and surprise guests in store. Since 2013, the charity’s partnership with Cares Shops’ Challenge has raised £160,000.

Peter Lynch, Action Cancer’s Retail Operations Manager, said: “The Cares Shops’ Challenge provides a unique opportunity for Action Cancer Retail to benefit from an ‘Apprentice Style’ challenge. Every penny raised during the challenge stays within NI to provide free services to local people, including breast screening to women aged 40 to 49 and 70 plus, and therapies and counselling to anyone impacted by cancer.”-

To make the event extra special this year, Lurgan’s Action Cancer store are running a competition through their Facebook page to celebrate ‘Glamour through the ages’ - and are encouraging customers to sign up! The challenge is to send in a picture of yourself, capturing an iconic look from your favourite era - whether it’s the vivid eye shadow and crimped hair of the 80s or he beehive and cat eyeliner of the 60s. Judges want entrants to capture their favourite ‘Time to Shine’, embracing the look, feel and the glamour of the moment. The winner will receive a fantastic Boots Hamper and a No7 Goody Bag.

To enter, email your picture to [email protected] before September 10. Photos will then be uploaded to Facebook, and the winner will be announced at the event in Lurgan’s Action Cancer store on September 17.
