Donaghcloney woman Kathleen Wethers passes away

Donaghcloney community stalwart Kathleen Wethers passed away yesterday (Saturday, August 8).

Kathleen had been the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal organiser in the village but had to step down a few years ago as a result of failing health and mobility.

She died after relatively short battle with cancer, Kathleen lived at Main Street in the village.

She had also been very active in her church, St Patrick’s Church of Ireland, Donaghcloney.

Funeral details to come later.

Paying a personal tribute local Councillor Mark Baxter said: “Kathleen was a lady of great faith and always a great encouragement to me personally. She will be sadly missed in the village and my thoughts and prayers are with her family and to her close friends.
