Donate a little and give a lot

Recycle your unwanted Christmas gifts and help vulnerable children at the same time is the message from the children’s charity Barnardo’s.

Barnardo’s NI is appealing for unwanted gifts from the festive season to be donated to their shop at Linn Road, Larne, so they can be sold to raise vital funds.

All money raised in Barnardo’s shops is used to fund the charity’s 40+ projects across the region that support children who are affected by today’s most urgent issues - including those living in poverty, who have suffered abuse or who are disabled.

With an estimated 30 per cent of the gifts given at Christmas being unwanted, Barnardo’s guarantees they can find a customer for those unwanted gifts.

Diane Winter, Barnardo’s NI Retail Manager, said: “We’ve all received a gift at Christmas that’s not suitable or we quite simply don’t want.

“By donating any unwanted Christmas presents to our shops you will not only be ‘recycling’ but also helping Northern Ireland’s most disadvantaged children.

“Every year Barnardo’s NI works to turn around the lives of thousands of children, young people and their families in over 40 projects across the region.

“Every penny raised plays a vital part in ensuring we continue to support these children.”
