Meanwhile as this was happening a fishing boat called White Falcon and skippered by the Rev Harold Good lost engine power at Kenbane Castle on the North Coast.

The Rev Good is a former president of the Methodist Church in Ireland, who saw the IRA destroys its guns in 2005.

It was a crucial milestone in the peace process which ended decades of conflict.

The Rev Good’s vessel lost power and local boat men Chris McCaughan and Marvi Kaskoush launched RIB Boisterous from Ballycastle Harbour where they rescued him from Kenbane Castle - the same area where ‘Lord Ran’ a youth training vessel, sank with a crew and Downtown Radio presenters on board between Ballycastle and Ballintoy.

RIB Boisterous towed him back to Ballycastle Harbour where he was safely berthed. Ballycastle Coastguard kept a coastal watch to ensure the safety of the passage.
