This year 35% of top achievers attained A*-A grades including, Anna McKay (8A* 2A), Michaela Mulvenna (8A* 2 A), Aimee McKay (6A* 4 A), Meghan O’Loughlin (6A* 3 A),), Aidan McCurry (8A* 1 A), Fiontann Callan (7A* 2A), Aisling Mulvenna (7A* 2A), Andrea Mulvenna (6A* 3A), Laura O’Boyle (2A* 8A) Clodagh McKillop (4 A* 5A) and Rachel O’Boyle (5A* 4A). Of the students who sat their exams in June 80% gained 7 A*-C or better with 87% achieved 5 A*-C grades while 35% of our GCSE grades were A*-A, a significant rise on last year.

One of the success stories of St Killian’s was the continuation of the college’s mentoring system which supports students to reach their full potential at all levels of the ability range. ‘GCSE results are outstanding as a result of well focused support which ensures that students make good progress and achieve their full potential.’

All of the students, teachers and parents should be rightly proud of the tremendous set of results that have been achieved.

Principal Mr Jonny Brady expressed his delight with another notable set of results at St Killian’s.

“The results have been excellent. Of the 131 students who sat their exams in June a fantastic 80% achieved 7 A* - C grades at GCSE while 87% achieved 5 A* - C grades, well above the N.I. average.

“Most encouraging was the fact that the majority of our young people reached and exceeded their potential with the help of a caring, dedicated and professional staff. Our successful mentoring system ensured significantly more pass grades than were predicted. This provides students with a greater opportunity and choice to progress to post 16 or make them more attractive to employers, which is so important in this increasingly competitive world.

“This fantastic set of results is down to the commitment, dedication and hard work of our students and staff, as well as the support and partnership that the school continues to develop and enjoy from our parents.

“Together we ensured, through our extensive revision programme, that all students were given the opportunity to access our teachers in the period prior to their exams which thus maximised their outcomes.”

“The College would like to take this opportunity to congratulate all our students on their outstanding results and we are looking forward to ensuring their future success at post 16.”
