DPP Chairs urge people to complete Board survey on local policing area

THE Chair of Ballymoney District Policing Partnership (DPP), Cllr Tom McKeown and the chair of Moyle DPP, Cllr. Robert McIlroy, have urged everyone in the area who receives the Northern Ireland Policing Board's public survey on policing to have their say on the policing of the Ballymoney and Moyleareas by completing and returning the questionnaire by 12 March.

The 2010 DPP Public Consultation Survey will be drop through 74,000 letterboxes across the country.

Cllr McKeown and Cllr. McIlroy said: “Policing is an important service and the public have the right to a good policing service when needed. The results of this survey, along with other consultation exercises, will help Ballymoney and Moyle DPPs establish local policing priorities with the Area Commander, CI John Magill, and inform public opinion on police performance.

“One in 10 households will receive the questionnaire which is designed to assess community views on a range of issues relating to the delivery of policing in the Ballymoney and Moyle areas. For the first time the survey will also give local people the opportunity to have a say in how policing is being delivered at a neighbourhood level.”

Throughout the year Ballymoney and Moyle DPPs consult the community in many different ways through surveys, public meetings, member engagement to name but a few.

The Chairmen continued: “In addition to the findings of the Board’s 21 Core Questions, more localised questions generated are also included which, along with other consultation methods, will be used to ensure the Local Policing Plan is developed to address community issues and help make communities across the area safer.

“Meetings of Ballymoney and Moyle DPPs provide a forum for local people to have a say on how their area is being policed and this DPP continues to work to help ensure communities have a visible and responsive policing service. This survey is an important part of that consultation process and I urge everyone who receives the questionnaire to have their say, fill it in and return it by the 12 March 2010.”

The survey findings will be made available at the end of June 2010 and published by the Board during summer 2010.
