Anthony Hugh Moore (48), St Patrick’s Street, was also banned from driving for four years for driving with excess alcohol and having no insurance, and fined £100 for having no licence.

A prosecuting lawyer said the offences came to light after police stopped a van being driven by the defendant at Main Street, Desertmartin, on September 16.

She said Moore failed a preliminary breath test and was arrested and taken to Antrim custody suite where he provided a specimen, which showed an alcohol count of 75mgs in breath.

Admitting the offences Stephen Atherton, solicitor, said Moore had been delivering a suite of furniture as a favour for a friend.

Mr Atherton said defendant had been drinking earlier in the day but believed he was capable of driving.

District Judge Alan White remarked that this was the defendant’s third conviction for drink driving.
