DRD monitor roads over flooding issue

Councillor Catherine Seeley has welcomed a DRD Roads Service decision to monitor the Derrymacash Road and Kinnego Embankment during suitably wet weather.

Ms Seeley said it is important to find out what action is required to alleviate the flooding.

She also highlighted the issue of lighting in the area.

She said, “DRD Roads Service’s decision to monitor the extent of flooding in order to determine what remedial action would be required to alleviate flooding in the area has to be welcomed.

“However the issue of lighting remains. Fergal Lennon and I will meet with DRD roads service to pursue this issue over the coming weeks.”

Sinn Féin Shadow Councillor Fergal Lennon stresed the importance of ensuring residents’ safety.

“These roads are main gateways to the local GAA club, the chapel and the town. Safety of road users and pedestrians is paramount and must take priority, particularly as the Derrymacash area becomes more built up.”
