'˜Dream come true for Quigg family'

Colum Egan, Master Distiller, at the world famous Bushmills Distillery, hailed all those involved in last week’s historic visit by the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh to the borough.

Security checks were made at a marquee on the Distillery grounds and the VIPs taken by coach to the unveiling and dedication ceremony of the Robert Quigg VC, just a short drive away in the centre of Bushmills

“It’s fantastic for Bushmills and it’s a great day for the Quigg family, very very special,” he told The Times.

“I think it’s remarkable that such a small little village on the north coast of Northern Ireland can welcome the Queen

“I think we have really pushed the boat out today and it’s magnificent to see the Irish Guards and Wolfhounds and the listen to the wonderful music they have played.”]

Describing the occasion as a fantastic and well deserved achievement, he added: “It’s very special for the Quigg family and they have spent a long time on this journey and to get the statue memorial and to have it unveiled by the Queen today...they are probably pinching themselves!”
