Drink driver had empty Buckfast bottle in car

A LURGAN man was disqualified for four and a half years after being caught drink driving at almost three times the legal limit.

He was 37-year-old John Lee Moore from Lime Grove.

On November 7 at 1am police observed a Nissan Almera driving in an erratic fashion on Millennium Way.

The court heard the defendant veered over the centre line in the road a number of times, stopped at a set of traffic lights that were green then veered over the centre line again before turning into Robert Street.

When he was pulled over by police they noticed an empty bottle of Buckfast in the passenger seat.

When breathalysed he gave a reading of 102 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath - the limit is 35.

Moore’s defence solicitor said his client lived by himself and has two children who live with their mother. The court was told the defendant has a relevant previous record. He said Moore was the sole carer for his mother who is disabled. He was disqualified for four and a half years for driving with excess alcohol in breath and fined 300.
