The court heard that police received a report of a suspected drunk driver at McDonald’s in Edward Street, Lurgan.

Police stopped the vehicle as it emerged onto the street and smelled alcohol on the defendant’s breath.

He failed the roadside test and was taken into custody. Sakavicius began to shout loudly and kicked out at a police officer. An evidential breath test gave a reading of 91.

Mr Richard Monteith, representing the defendant, said his client’s mother was in the car and she got out when she saw her son being dealt
with by police.

He added that was when Sakavicius resisted police because she interacted.

Mr Monteith explained that the defendant only had to travel about 200 yards but could not be bothered to walk. Sakavicius was treating his mother to a McDonald’s.
