Drive for Life raises £300 for Cancer Focus Northern Ireland

Jim Bearns, from Larne, organised the event which was a great success. There were many cars - old and new - that went out to join the Drive for Life weekend and they all enjoyed a great experience, driving along Ireland’s scenic western coast.

Maeve Fox, Community Fundraising Manager with Cancer Focus Northern Ireland said: “Thank you to Jim for organising the Drive for Life and to all the car owners who came along and got involved in the drive. It was a great event and we are very pleased to accept a cheque for £300 that will go directly towards helping and supporting local people and their families living with a cancer diagnosis in Northern Ireland.”

“Cancer Focus Northern Ireland is a local charity committed to tackling cancer by supporting cancer research, providing services for cancer patients and their families and educating people in how they can reduce their risk of the disease. Our work is only possible due to the generosity of local people who raise almost £4m needed annually to provide our care and support services, free of charge, to cancer patients, carers and their families in Northern Ireland.”

Cancer Focus Northern Ireland is the new name for the Ulster Cancer Foundation. The new name is the only change to the organisation - the services that are provided by the charity like support, counselling and funding for cancer research remain the same.

“We want to reach even more people so that means we’ll be extending our range of services and bringing them to more venues across Northern Ireland,” said Maeve.
