Driver handed fine and points

A COLERAINE man has been given penalty points and fined for motoring offences.

North Antrim Magistrates’ Court heard that Brendan Duncan (24) of Buskin Way was charged with driving with no insurance and failing to produce his licence, following an incident in Coleraine on April 18.

Police on patrol at the Riverside Regional Centre stopped Duncan who was unable to produce an insurance certificate for the Corolla Avensis car he was driving. He was also unable to produce his driving licence at the time.

Duncan’s solicitor, Mr Stewart, said that his client had only bought the car a few days before and took a chance driving the short distance to the supermarket. Duncan accepted that he shouldn’t have got into the car.

Deputy District, Judge McFarland, fined Duncan 150 and gave him six penalty points for driving with no insurance and a further 35 fine for failing to produce his driving licence.
