Driving advice for Polish group

Banbridge Policing and Community Safety Partnership (PCSP) worked with the Banbridge Polish School and PEACE III Challenge of Change programme to facilitate a Safer Driving information event for the local Polish and other minority ethnic communities in the Banbridge District.

Councillor Junior McCrum, Chairman of Banbridge PCSP, commented, “This event was a follow-up to an event in May this year where those attending identified safe and legal driving as an area of concern for many local people from ethnic minority communities. The PCSP worked with appropriate statutory and local partners to enable these people to access relevant information in an informal and practical way.”

Mr Jonathan Murphy, Banbridge PCSP Vice-Chair, added, “This event was a great opportunity for the PCSP to bring together representatives from a range of delivery partners including the PSNI Road Policing; NI Fire and Rescue; Banbridge District Council Community Safety Wardens; REACT Ltd; and a solicitor who specialises in driving legislation. The Challenge of Change programme provided interpreters to enable everyone to access the advice and information.”
