Driving ban for Gilford woman

A Gilford woman was banned from driving for four months last Wednesday at Craigavon Magistrates Court for not having insurance on October 2 last year.

Fifty one year old Catherine Toner, Pine View Court, was also fined £250 for the offence and ordered to pay a £15 offender’s levy.

As well she was fined £100 and banned for four months for not having a licence, £50 for not displaying ‘L’ plates and £50 for driving unsupervised.

The court heard the offences came to light when she was stopped on the Tandragee Road, Gilford. She had previously been banned from driving in 2010.

Her solicitor said he had observed the disqualification period but had not regularised her driving requirements after it ended.

He explained that she had been taking the car for a short distance for a test drive and had been seen by a neighbourhood police officer who was aware of her circumstances.
