Driving withno insurance

AN unemployed farm labourer has appeared at Limavady Magistrates Court for driving without insurance.

24 year-old Mark Smyth of Carmoney Road, Eglinton also faced a charge of failing to produce his driving licence after being stopped by police on April 25 last. He was asked to produce his driving documents within seven days to Waterside PSNI station. Smyth attended the station with only part of his licence. It also transpired that he had no insurance. His solicitor told the court that Smyth believed that a policy was in place to cover him at the time. Deputy District Judge Dunlop fined Smyth 250 and imposed six penalty points on his licence.
