Dromara incidents linked to others in police investigation

Police are investigating a link between a series of incidents in Dromara, Dundrum and Castlewellan.

Shortly before midnight on Sunday (September 21) a Renault van was reported stolen at Main Street, Dundrum; it was found next morning at Crossgar Road, Dromara, where another van, an Iveco Tipper, was stolen overnight.

Police recovered the Iveco at Ashbridge Manor, Dromara; it’s believed it was earlier involved in a collision with a parked car at Kane Terrace.

Overnight between Sunday 21 and Monday 22 September, a red Transit van was stolen from Clarkill Road, Castlewellan and a black Seat Leon from Moybrick Road, Dromara. The Leon was found at Clarkill Road and the Transit was abandoned in Newcastle, close to Tesco.

Officers are also looking into reports of a number of burglaries and attempted burglaries, including one at a mechanic’s garage at Banbridge Road, Dromara and another at a house on Ardtanagh Road, Dromara during the same overnight period. Investigations are at an early stage and officers are appealing for information. The number is 101.
