This change is part of a major programme of moderinisation taking place across the Post Office network, the largest in the history of Post Office Ltd.

The programme is underpinned by Government investment and will see up to 8,000 branches modernised and additional investment in over 3,000 community and outreach branches.

If the move goes ahead, Post Office services will be offered from a till on the retail counter in a modern open plan branch. The majority of Post Office products and services will still be available in the new location.

The Post Office has launched a public consultation into the proposal, which will run until December 18. Following the consultation, it is expected the move to the new location will take place in February or March 2016.

Post Office Ltd is inviting local customers, as well as stakeholders such as Lisburn and Castlereagh City Council, to share their views on the proposed relocation.

Posters and leaflets will be displayed in branch to let customers know about the changes and to ask their views. They are keen to hear what people think of the new premises, if they believe they are suitable and if there are any concerns they would like to raise.

Lisburn Councillor Alexander Redpath is urging local people to take the opportunity to share their views on the proposed move of Dromara Post Office.

“It is important that the people who use the Post Office in the village make their voices heard on this matter,” said Mr Redpath. “I would encourage local residents to contact the Post Office and make their views or concerns known before the consultation ends in December,”
