Dromore church reaches out to community

DROMORE Reformed Presbyterian Church is planning several days of special community outreach from August 13-16.

Minister, David McCullough, said, “Our annual outreach focus is part of our all year round contact with our community. “Our goal is to share the gospel message with every home and person in our town.”

Mr. McCullough said of a planned Champions’ League Bible Club, “We are conscious that the children of our town have a host of clubs to choose from so we have again organised a club with a difference. “Champions’ League has grown in popularity each summer. All the children who come along get coached by IFA qualified coaches and receive clear Bible teaching from young men passionate about following the Lord Jesus.”

The club runs 7-8.30pm at Dromore Rugby Club. All young people aged 8-15 years welcome.

Another key part of the week’s activities will be open-air preaching in the town square. “Our purpose in these open air addresses,” said the minister, “will be to show that the Lord Jesus Christ is the most important person in the world and that He alone brings lasting happiness and satisfaction.”

The congregation is also taking opportunity to deliver a specially prepared leaflet entitled, ‘We all need a hero’.

Said Mr. McCullough, “Our summer leaflet is designed to make people think about the deepest longings of their lives. We hope that this article stirs up some serious thinking, and encourages people to search out answers from the Bible.”

On Thursday 16th at 2pm in the Brewery Lane church the more mature members of the community are invited to afternoon tea and a trip down memory lane.

“This is part of our ongoing monthly work of serving the retired and senior in the town.,” said Mr. McCullough. “ We are planning to have on display some clothes from past generations and as people reflect on the past to have a presentation of the gospel which is as relevant in the 21st century as it was a 100 years ago.”
