Dromore home does its bit for worthy charity

DROMORE’S Mountvale Private Nursing Home recently raised more than £350 for its chosen charity this year, namely the Northern Ireland Chest, Heart and Stroke Association.

It was after a great deal of deliberation, a spokesperson said, that Mountvale staff settled on a charity with relevance to so many of the home’s residents.

Among other things, Mountvale’s Activities Therapist, Deborah McCready, has agreed to complete a skydive during May, with all money raised to be donated to Chest, Heart and Stroke.

In the meantime, staff kicked off the fundraising in Boyle’s Bar with a pub quiz organised by Deborah and Eileen McQuade .

“This was a huge success,” said the spokesperson, “and we would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge and thank all those who attended - work colleagues, family, friends and the local community; it really was so overwhelming to see so many who made the effort to come out and support us.

“On the night over £350 was raised. Well done to Deborah and Eileen for organising a fantastic night which ran so smoothly.

“A big thank-you goes to Boyles Bar for the use of their premises, raffle prizes and a tasty supper, all laid on free of charge.

“Also, a thank-you to Courtney Orr, proprietor of Courtneys’ Beauty Box, Dromore, who donated vouchers for our raffle, and to our quizmasters Graham and Lorna Halliday.”

If anyone wishes to donate to, or otherwise support, the Mountvale fundraising campaign, they ae asked to contact the home on 028 9269 9480.
