They watched his van cross the central line as it made it way into Meeting Street.

They saw the van then starte climbing very slowly up Pound Hill.

The vehicle was going so slowly it almost stopped before it again crossing the white lines in the centre of the road.

It eventually came to a stop at Bignian View Park just before almost colliding with a parked car.

Moffitt got out of the driver’s seat and was very unsteady on his feet.

There was a strong smell of alcohol and his speech was slow. A test revealed 56mgs of alcohol.

A solicitor said Moffitt has some difficulties with alcohol and had been attending a family event which he found quite “distressing.”

Judge Copeland agreed that Moffitt was a suitable candidate for the drink drive offender’s course, which if successfully completed will see his period of disqualification reduced by 25%.

He also had to pay an offender’s levy of £15.
