Dromore Park to come alive

As part of Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council’s Biodiversity Awareness Day, people of all ages are being invited to take advantage of a free event in the park.

The aim of the event is to raise residents’ awareness of biodiversity in their back garden and beyond, all as part of an enjoyable day.

The programme will include interactive displays, talks and workshops from 11am – 3pm.

To deliver it the council is joining forces with a number of wildlife and conservation partner organizations, including the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds, Dromore Beekeepers Association, Butterfly Conservation Group and the Conservation Volunteers, all offering an insight into their respective fields.

World of Owls will be offering the public the opportunity to get up close and personal with some of their mini-beasts, reptiles and birds of prey and the Lough Neagh Discovery Team will be running a host of hands-on activities and workshops throughout the day.

The Friendly Faces will be providing even more entertainment with a number of activities, including face-painting and badge -making, which will be taking place inside side the event’s very own education bus.

A spokesperson said: “Freddy the fox and Bumble the bee will also be making guest appearances and will be at hand to provide hilarity and mischief at what promises to be a fantastic day out for all the family.

“Booking is not required; just turn up and let us introduce you to the wonderful world of biodiversity.”
