Drove at over 100mph on the M1

A woman who drove at over 100mph on the motorway was told she could '˜count herself lucky' she did not lose her licence.

Stephanie Frances Anderson (25), Clare Road, Gilford, pleaded guilty on Wednesday July 6 at Craigavon Magistrates Court to an excess speed offence. She was fined £300 and given six penalty points.

The court heard that at on April 26 this year at 11.55pm she was detected travelling at 101mph on the M1 near Lurgan. The weather conditions were fine and traffic was light.

A solicitor for the defendant said her licence was essential for her job. The solicitor said she had been driving since she was 17 and had no previous convictions.
