The court heard the offences came to light when Stevenson was stopped while driving in Charles Street, Lurgan.

Mr Peter Murphy, representing the defendant, said his client’s mother and father were out and it was his mother’s car he took.

He explained that Stevenson had his young child in the house and needed special food so he decided to go to his girlfriend’s house in Lurgantarry to get it. On the way he was stopped.

Mr Murphy said Stevenson should have waited until his parents returned home but the child was in a distressed state and he made the decision to go to his girlfriend’s house.
