She said: “I would in the first instance commend the Lurgan Neighbourhood Policing Team for their swift action in this regard. Their efficient and quick action resulted in a cannabis factory being located within Lurgan.

“This was a significant drugs find and I am delighted that the drugs and the equipment has been removed from society.”

The Mayor added: “Drugs are a blight on our society and those responsible for dealing and producing need to face the full rigours of the law.

“I am pleased that an arrest has been made and trust that, if proven, the rule of law will dictate a sentence that accompanies the seriousness of this crime.

“I would commend the PSNI on their robustness when dealing with this matter and would encourage anyone within the community who has information relating to this incident or indeed any other drug operations within the area to come forward and report it.

“Unfortunately our young people all too often fall fowl of this activity and it is imperative that all raise issues with the PSNI when they witness strange activities within their neighbourhood.”
