Drugs found in car at Nutts Corner

A Lisburn police Inspector explained that a quantity of drugs was discovered following a search of the car at Nutts Corner Road.

He also said that another quantity of suspected drugs was discovered during a follow up search at a property in Lisburn.

“Approximately two kilograms of suspected amphetamine, commonly known as speed, was discovered following the search of the car at around 4.30pm on Thursday January 7,” explained Inspector Mark Robinson. “A quantity of white powder was later recovered as a result of a follow up search at an address in the Lisburn area. The man remains in custody at this time helping with our enquiries.”

Inspector Robinson continued by saying that the police in Lisburn remained committed to tackling the issue of drugs in the city.

“We are totally committed to addressing the problem of controlled drugs within our communities,” said Inspector Robinson,

“Amphetamine is a very dangerous illegal drug and we have a duty to protect the public and to keep people safe.

“We want to send a very clear message to those involved in supplying any form of controlled drugs, that if detected, they can expect to be brought before the courts.

“I would encourage anyone with any information about the supply or use of illegal drugs to report it to police on 101.”
