Drugs found in search

WHEN police searched the house of a young Craigavon man they found a quantity of drugs, the local court heard last Thursday.

Twenty-one-year-old Stephen John McCann, of Moyraverty Court, Craigavon, was fined 75 for possession of cannabis resin on March 9 and 50 for possession of herbal cannabis on the same date.

The court heard that the search uncovered two grammes of cannabis resin, a cannabis joint and a gramme of herbal cannabis.

McCann admitted that the drugs belonged to him and were for his own personal use.

Mr Pat Vernon, representing the defendant, said McCann accepted that at the time he did have a problem with drugs.

He added that since then the defendant had spent two weeks in hospital undergoing detox treatment. He was addressing the issue.
