Drugs pair released on bail

TWO men from Portstewart charged with drugs offences, appeared before North Antrim Magistrates' Court last Wednesday.

Christopher Liam Rogers (26) and Trevor Gary McNeill (30) both of Cromlech Close, were released on continuing bail.

Rogers came before the court charged with permitting the use of cannabis and possessing a Class ‘C’ drug.

McNeill is charged with permitting the use of cannabis at an address in Cromlech Close.

The charges relate to a search at the address on February 27.

McNeill’s solicitor, Garrett Greene, made an application to have his client’s curfew relaxed, to allow him to spend more time with his son.

The solicitor said McNeill chad a number of football trips planned with his ten-year-old son, and that the curfew clashed with these.

McNeill’s current curfew is from 10pm to 6am and his bail conditions also prevent him from entering Portstewart.

Police were not in agreement with any change.

District Judge, Richard Wilson, was also apprehensive about the relaxation, and extended the curfew by one hour to free up McNeill for shift work. The District Judge said that there was enough time during the day for McNeill to see his son.

Both defendants will re-appear on April 21.
