Drugs recovered in Dunmurry

Over the past month, Dunmurry Neighbourhood Policing Team have recovered £84,000 of suspected drugs and made four arrests which have resulted in three men charged to court.

During proactive policing operations at residential premises at the Alina Gardens, Colin Mill and Cherry Walk areas of Dunmurry, suspected herbal cannabis was recovered.

Three arrests were made, with two men charged for various drug offences to court. Two cannabis factories were discovered at residential premises at the Ashley Park area, and a 37 year old man was charged to appear at Lisburn Magistrates Court this month following a cannabis factory find at the Aspen Walk area.

These recent seizures and arrests coupled with suspected herbal cannabis with an estimated street value of around £320,000 seized from a house in the Cloona Manor area and the charges of a 29 year old female and 28 year old male for drugs offences, has been a great success for officers in the Neighbourhood Policing Team in Dunmurry.

Inspector Peter Brannigan said: “I would like to congratulate all of the officers in Dunmurry Neighbourhood Policing Team, who through a number of different roles have made a substantial recovery of drugs and arrests in the area.

“An excellent working relationship between officers and the local community has lead to issues of concern being raised to police, which have subsequently resulted in these significant arrests and seizures.

“Taking these drugs off the streets and bringing those involved before the courts provides public reassurance in police tackling drugs in Dunmurry.

“Drugs destroy lives and are a scourge on society.”
