The searches, which were carried out by the police Tactical Crime Unit, followed information supplied by the UK Borders Agency.

Two males were arrested and are said to be helping police with their inquiries.

This is the second major police operation to take the recently banned substance off our streets.

At the end of April police seized 30,000 and arrested three people following searches at properties in Lurgan and Waringstown - it was the first major seizure of the drug.

Police described it as 'massively significant'.

Mephedrone was made a class B controlled substance at the beginning of April following a number of high profile reports of children, some as young as 10, taking the drug.

A number of deaths were also thought to be related to abuse of the substance which was sold as plant feed until it was made illegal.
