Drumahoe burglary suspect arrest

A LONDONDERRY police chief says the people of Drumahoe helped the force apprehend a 32-year-old suspected burglar on Thursday (October 11).

Police received a report of a burglary taking place at a property Old School Fields on Thursday afternoon.

Police arrived on the scene and arrested a 32 year-old male.

Acting Area Commander, Inspector Alan Hutton said: “We are grateful to the public for their assistance and because of reports received, we were able to respond and make an arrest. I would encourage local people to call Police immediately if they see any type of suspicious activity or suspicious vehicles in their area.

“Information is vital and we rely on information from the public. I would ask people to always report suspicious activity to Police, no matter if they think it is not important, as this could help prevent a crime from taking place.”

In a separate incident a 17-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of a suspected attempted burglary in the Foxhill area at around 3am om Friday, October 12.

Police received a report of suspicious activity in the Foxhill area at around 3am on Friday, October 12.

Police arrived on the scene and arrested a the youth.

He has been charged with attempted burglary and vehicle interference. He is due to appear at Londonderry Magistrates Court on November 6.
