‘Drumcroon road unacceptable’

DUP MLA Adrian McQuillan says he will continue to lobby the Minister for Regional Development, Danny Kennedy, about the state of disrepair of the surface of the A29, Drumcroon Road, between Garvagh and Coleraine.

The Garvagh man recently wrote to the minister about the issue.

In response, Mr Kennedy said that the road, classified as a ‘trunk road’ underwent ‘routine testing’.

He added that the Drumcroone Road ‘did not rate highly enough to compete with others’ therefore it wouldn’t classify for resurfacing under the Department’s programme.

Mr Kennedy concluded that the busy stretch of road would ‘continue to be inspected’.

McQuillan says he has been contacted by a number of commuters about the state of the road.

“Despite receiving a negative response from the Minister I will continue to raise this issue at every viable opportunity.

“It is vital that this road is checked regularly.”
