Alderman Allan Ewart, Chairman of the Council’s Development Committee, said: “To have attained a Gold Award is excellent news for this tourism business and its proprietor, Glenn Harvey. Such an award is provided to businesses that, when independently assessed are identified as demonstrating the highest standards of sustainability with a strong and broad ethos and excellent examples throughout the business.

“Within both of his two cottages Glenn has installed the green technologies of solar water heating and PV to provide hot water and electricity from natural light. Moreover, sustainability does not stop there, as all cleaning products used on site and provided in the accommodation are Ecover ones, which are bleach and phosphate free; and his mains electricity supplier is Airtricity, Northern Ireland’s only sustainable electricity supplier.”
