Drumlough roadworks welcomed

THERE was a welcome this week for a Roads Service decision to resurface a section of the Dromara Road, Hillsborough at Drumlough.

The resurfacing, which will take place in the current financial year, was made possible thanks to the re-allocation of Executive finances.

DUP Lagan Valley MLA Paul Givan and Downshire ward Councillor Paul Stewart, who have repeatedly lobbied Roads Service about the Dromara Road and Hillsborough Road, applauded the decision.

“The inclusion of this stretch of road from Drumlough Amenity Site to Rafferty’s Hill is positive news from the Department of Regional Development,” said Mr. Givan. “The additional funding made available for this work has enabled it to be prioritised in the current resurfacing programme.

“It is good to learn that this additional money will be used appropriately to upgrade the local roads network.”

Councillor Stewart added, “We have lobbied Roads Service on a number of occasions regarding the condition of the Dromara Road and Hillsborough Road.

“I am very pleased that this particular section of road, which has greatly needed maintenance, will be included in the works programme for this financial year.

“Many motorists travel on this road on a daily basis and this resurfacing work will be well received with local motorists.”
