Drunk Crescent Link'˜road rager' banned

Linas Gricius of Summer Meadows Mews, was a couple of hundred yards from home when he was arrested by police and booked for a string of motoring offences on June 26.

A PPS spokeswoman said the PSNI received a report of a ‘road rage’ incident at the Crescent Link Retail Park from a member of the public.

Gricius was reported to have been driving “erratically” and, according to a member of the public, became involved in a “road rage” incident, in which he was reported to have “shouted into the face” of another motorist whilst “giving the middle finger,” the Court was told.

The driver then “drove off, revving the engine and spinning the wheels” but eventually got out of the car when pursued by police and made off up the Crescent Link in an “unsteady manner.”

A defence solicitor said: “As far as road rage incidents go, this isn’t the worst.”

Reading a witness statement, District Judge Neil Rafferty observed: “He fails to see a vehicle pulling out and blares the horn because he didn’t see it because he was drunk?”

Gricius received a three month prison sentence, suspended for three years for the drink driving offence and was disqualified from driving for four years.
