Drunk kicked police officer

Gerald Patrick McNally (35), Edward Street, Lurgan, was fined £250 last Wednesday at Craigavon Magistrates Court for assault on the police. He was also fined £100 for simple drunk.

The court heard that on January 1 this year at approximately 5.45pm in William Street, Lurgan, police came across the defendant who was barely able to stand. He was being held up by a member of the public.

Police took them to their vehicle and placed him on the edge of a seat. He could not give his name and address because of his intoxication. McNally then became aggressive and kicked an officer on the leg in the shin area.

A solicitor representing McNally said he had been celebrating New Year and was highly intoxicated.

She added that he had limited recollection of the events.
