Drunk man aimed punch in town fast food outlet

Ben Noel Taylor (25), Main Street, Loughgall, admitted a charge of disorderly behaviour when he appeared last Wednesday at Craigavon Magistrates Court.

The court heard that on March 8 this year police were on public order duties at West Street, Portadown.

They had to deal with a disturbance at a fast food outlet where the defendant was refusing to leave the premises.

He was swinging his arms about as if he was attempting to strike another person with a punch.

Taylor, who was intoxicated, used profane language towards police and was warned about his behaviour.

At first he refused to provide details of his identity but eventually co-operated with the police.

A solicitor representing the defendant said that a relevant matter on his record was also brought about by too much alcohol.

He added that Taylor was obstructive but after a short period of time he calmed down.

The solicitor said that his long term partner was due to give birth in July and that would be a sobering experience for him.

District Judge, Mr Mervyn Bates, said he was concerned this was another incident of disorderly behaviour after one had been dealt with in October.

He ordered a short sentence report to see if a community sentence, community service or probation, was suitable and adjourned the case until June 3.
