Dual carriageway safety concerns at Council

THE Roads Service is looking into ways to improve safety at a notoriously hazardous Larne junction.

At Larne Council, Cllr Gregg McKeen raised concerns over access from Circular Road on to the Harbour Highway.

“This junction is still a major concern for many motorists, and the opening of Asda and other premises at Redlands Road has put considerably more pressure on that area in terms of traffic,” he told Roads Service representatives.

A spokeswoman for the Department of Regional Development told the Times: “Roads Service is currently examining options to address a number of road safety issues relating to this junction, including measures to facilitate pedestrians walking from the town centre to Redlands.”
