Duck Dive WILL be back again

The popular St Patrick’s Day fundraiser for Portrush Lifeboat Station was in danger of going under because the current committee, which had been running the event for 20 years, was standing down.

However a Duck Dive spokesman told the Times today: “We will be back again next year.

“New blood has been found to carry on. This year’s event was a success and we hope to see everyone again next year.”

The organisers thanked everyone who took part at the Herring Pond on Thursday afternoon as well as the spectators who turned up to cheer on the intrepid divers.

A special word of thanks was extended to the local business community who generously contributed prizes for this year’s winners.

Causeway Coast and Glens Council was also praised for repairing the winter storm damage to provide a great stage for the acquatic event.

Prizewinners:

Best Costume - Alice Lagan (Leprechaun).

Best No-man - Sean Armstron (Kim Kardashian).

Second Best No-man - Michael Thompson (Eastern Princess)

Best Group - The Tutu Police (Orla Lafferty, Orla Cunningham and Philippa Pitt).

Furthest Travelled - Penny Edmondson (USA).

Funniest - Paddy McLaughlin and daughter (Dumb and Dumber).

Old Faithful - 14 years of diving, Kirsty Briggs as Dracula.

Most Appropriate Dress - Katie and Kieran McLaughlin (St Patrick and his sister).
