Dunaghy parade - fun for all the family

With the Twelfth past the members of Dunaghy Flute Band will be putting the final touches to their annual parade preparations which will be held in Ballymoney next Wednesday starting at 8.30 p.m. from the North Road led by Macosquin Flute band.

Dunaghy Flute Band have been at the forefront of ensuring that there is a family element to their annual parade and again they have brought together a programme of entertainment this year.

Performing in High Street at 7pm will be Dunloy Accordion Orchestra. Their sound includes accordion, keyboards, and percussion.

Also on High Street and in conjunction with the North Antrim Cultural and Musical Society there will be a short military display by the B Special Historical Platoon. The group which was formed on the 30th anniversary of the stand down of the Ulster Special Constabulary to commemorates and the service of both the A Specials (1920-24) and B Specials (1920-70). The programme includes foot and weapons drill as well as re enactment of typical inspection and practical patrol duties of the time. Meanwhile at Castlecroft will be the venue for a display of lambegs and fifing by Ballymoney Fife & Lambeg Club.

There’s entertainment pre-parade for the children. High Street will also host facepainters and balloon modelling while bouncy castles will be situated in both Townhead Street Car Park and on the green at Trinity Drive. The much loved selection of cartoon characters will be on the streets.

A disco will be held afterwards in the Manor Hotel.
