Dungannon drug smuggler Michaella could be in NI prison within months
DUNGANNON woman, Michaella McCollum, who admitted smuggling £1.5 million of cocaine into Peru, could be serving her six year sentence in a Northern Ireland prison within months, her solicitor has revealed today.
According to the Belfast based lawyer, Kevin Winters, authorities in Peru have accepted a request for Miss McCollum’s transfer.
In December, Michaella McCollum pleaded guilty to drug smuggling and was sentenced to six years and eight months in prison.
It is understood the process could take a number of months to complete.
