Dungannon mums taking on all-day triathlon for charity

On Thursday 31st March Dungannon woman Maria Killen will join her sister Claire Killen and friend Caroline Wilson to take the day off work and swap it for a day of fundraising at Dungannon Leisure Centre in aid of BCM Parent Support Project! They are going to split the triathlon, with Maria swimming for the whole day, while Claire and Caroline will be getting on with the running and cycling. They will keep going all day, only taking the normal lunch and coffee breaks of an average day in the office.

Maria works at BCM Parent Support and knows first-hand just how important the project is to parents who need a bit of extra help and support. Maria says,

“Being a parent is one of the hardest and most important jobs there is and we want to help parents who are finding it hard to cope. We are very excited about this 9-5 triathlon challenge and think this is something no one has ever done before! This will be no easy task, but of course it’s all for a good cause so it will make it all worthwhile.”

As if all that wasn’t difficult enough, Maria and her family are moving housing on the same day when she will be completing the 9-5 challenge for BCM, so she is juggling her training with packing and preparing to move!

Belfast Central Mission (BCM) set up Parent Support in Dungannon and Armagh in 2014 to help parents in the difficult job of bringing up their children. They offer advice and practical help on varied topics such as child development, help to access local services, parenting and healthy eating.
