Dungannon PSNI murder attempt arrests

THREE men have been arrested by detectives investigating the attempted murder of a police officer in Dungannon almost six years ago.

The suspects, aged 36, 37 and 41, were arrested in County Antrim this morning.

The police officer was shot as he made his way home from work at Dungannon station on November 12, 2007.

He had stopped in his car at traffic lights in the Circular Road at around 5.30pm when a gunman fired a number of shots and seriously injured him.

The officer was able to drive back to the station where he crashed into the front gates and received medical help from colleagues before being taken to hospital.

The police officer sustained a serious shoulder injury.

The suspects are being questioned at Antrim’s Serious Crime Suite.
