Dungannon retailers could tell you why the chicken crossed the road

Retailers on Dungannon's Irish Street got the shock of their lives when a free-range chicken took a nip round the shops.

It is unclear where the animal came from, but a local retailer says hens can be heard quite regularly on the street and that it is thought they are being kept in some nearby flats.

The hen appeared to have broken free somewhere, as it had a length of frayed string tied around one of it's legs.

Animal Welfare and the PSNI have been informed.
