The manifesto calls for improved care and support of those diagnosed with secondary breast cancer; for younger women to be given access to fertility services before treatment; and to make sure all patients receive a holistic needs assessment to prepare them to cope with altered body image.

Jayne said: “As a breast cancer survivor I have seen through my own experience how good the breast cancer service is in North Antrim but I know that more can be done.

“A cancer diagnosis causes uncertainty about the future and can bring fear to those affected. These measures would give better support for those with secondary cancer, offer young women the hope of bearing children and help women cope with the scars left by surgery.

“I will do what I can to deliver these pledges and support women with breast cancer,” she concluded.
